Scrap Paper Easter Eggs

Hi Everyone

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.  Yesterday was absolutely beautiful here!  We were even able to enjoy our dinner outside!  With it finally starting to feel like spring is coming I thought it would be a great time to post some Easter projects.  I had a blast doing this first project!  It turned how I pictured it would in my head...not always the case!  This project is a great way to use up all your scraps and impress your Easter guests with your creative skills!  It is also a great way to play with colour combination's!  I definitely found a couple of new combination's that I want to try on a card!  You could definitely adapt this for any holiday...balls for Christmas ornaments, little pumpkins for Hallowe'en/Thanksgiving...the possibilities are endless!

Here is how I made the Easter eggs:

1.  You will need styrofoam eggs (My Mom found these ones for me at the dollar store, I think there were 6 large in a pack for $1 dollar and 12 small for $1 dollar.  There were also medium sized eggs available as well!), small sewing pins (the ones I used I had found at Wal-Mart, I wanted small metal heads but you could use ones with pearls or colours on top as well!), scraps of paper and small punches.
2.  Using your scraps of Stampin' Up! cardstock and designer series paper punch out lots of shape pieces.  For my eggs I used the 1/2" circle punch for some and the old style Boho Blossom punch.  If you have the new Boho Blossoms Extra Large punch this would work perfectly as well.  Other punches that would work well are the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and Heart Small Punch.
3.  Once you have your shapes punched out simply place one against your styrofoam egg and stick a pin through the middle.
4.  Continue assembling your eggs by adding more punched shapes to them one at a time overlapping to cover the white of the egg.  I found they turned out best if you placed some of you shapes slightly under some of your already placed shapes and some overtop of the shapes.

Hope you enjoyed today's project, check back later this week for another Easter project!

Stamping Time!

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to find a time to get together with my new downline Tina.  Tina has years of stamping experience!  She has an amazing creative side.  Tina and I had a blast hanging out for the evening stamping and probably would have continued well into the night had the weather not gotten bad!  I strongly recommend for anyone to get together with a friend or group and stamp!  You will gain lots of inspiration, have fun stamping and stretch your boundaries as a stamper!  Today I just wanted to share with you Tina's blog.  Her blog can be found here.  I have also posted a link in the left hand column under creative links!

Check back this week for a couple of fun Easter projects!

Greenhouse Garden Mini's

Hi Everyone!

Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful sunshine that arrived today!  Hopefully it sticks around and spring comes soon!  It is March now after all!  I am certainly enjoying the longer days and can't wait for spring and daylight savings to come back.  Today's cards use the Greenhouse Garden stamp set (wishful thinking that spring is on the way maybe?)  I love this set and I love making these little mini cards with any stamp set!  These mini's are 3x3 in size and super cute!  Best of all Stampin' Up! has mini envelopes that fit these cards perfectly!  For the colours of these mini's I used all 5of the current in colours!  You don't have to use the in colours together but I think they all work great together!  My favourite in colour right now though is definitely Concord Crush (the purple blue colour).  The other current in colours are Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz and Blushing Bride.

Here's how I made these mini's:
1.  Cut your base to 3"x6" and score at 3"
2.  Cut your next colour at 2 3/4"x2 3/4"
3.  Cut your whisper white or neutral cardstock to 2 1/2"x2 1/2"
4.  Stamp your image on your neutral cardstock.  For these I used the concord crush ink for the detail of the flowers and used the two colours of ink that match the cardstock for the background of the flowers.  Greenhouse Garden is only available in woodmount and is a two-step stamp set so you will definitely need your Stamp-a-ma-jig for this one (check back soon for instructions on how to use your Stamp-a-ma-jig and two-step stamps)!
5.  Stamp your greeting.  For these cards I used A NOTE OF THANKS from the Thank you Kindly set in concord crush ink.
6.  Adhere your pieces and you are done!

Hope you enjoyed today's card!

Artistic Etchings

Today’s card is one a lot of you may have seen at workshops. It uses a lot of my favourite colours…Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso and Crumb Cake! Definitely makes you a little hungry! The stamp set used for the card is Artistic Etchings. This set is very different from my normal style and was a struggle at first to use but now I love it! I am thrilled with how the card turned out and hope that I will have more time in the future to play with this set!

Here is how I made the card!

  1. Start with a 5 ½ x 8 ½ piece of crumb cake scored at 4 ¼ (half of the 8 ½ side) This is the card base

  2. Cut a piece of early espresso to 5 ¼ x 4

  3. Cut a piece of whisper white to 5 x 3 ¾

  4. Stamp the crown, key and pointy flower image (for lack of a better description) from Artistic Etchings randomly on the piece of whisper white.

  5. Using your crumb cake ink, sponge parts of the whisper white until you are happy with the look.

  6. Add early espresso ink to the edges of the whisper white paper by dragging the edges of you paper across the ink pad.

  7. Assemble these three pieces.

  8. Next cut a 2 ½ by 2 piece of whisper white. Using your big shot and the texturz plate from the backgrounds 1 set emboss the whisper white.

  9. Ink your brayer with crumb cake ink. Very lightly roll across the whisper white that you embossed to highlight the images. (You might want to practice this on scrap paper and get the feel of how hard you want to press)

  10. Again drag the edges of the whisper white across your early espresso ink pad.

  11. Next stamp the word AMOUR from Artistic Etchings on a piece of cherry cobbler cardstock using Early Espresso ink and punch out using the Round Tab Extra Large punch and adhere to embossed piece of whisper white.

  12. Cut a 1 ¼ x 5 piece of whisper white and stamp the medallion from Artistic Etchings three times using Crumb Cake Ink.

  13. Again ink the edges of the whisper white piece with early espresso ink.

  14. Cut a ¾ x 5 piece of cherry cobbler and ¾ x 5 piece of early espresso. Punch the long edge of both pieces using the scallop trim border.

  15. Adhere your punch pieces to the medallion whisper white piece layering both along the one edge.

  16. Glue your embossed piece to the card (the 2 ½ dimension is vertical) and then the medallion stamped piece on top.

  17. Finally stamp the Eiffel Tower image in cherry cobbler ink on a scrap piece of whisper white cardstock and cut out using the paper snips. Adhere using a scrap piece of rubber or Stampin’ Dimensionals to make the image stand out.

Hope you enjoyed today’s card. Check back often for more ideas! I will also be posting a couple of new classes including a technique workshop in the next couple of weeks! Remember if you aren’t happy with your stamped image there are two sides to every paper!

Welcome!

Hi Everyone

First off I would like to welcome you to my blog. This is the first time I have tried blogging so bear with me as I work out some of the kinks that will most likely come! I have been an Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator since August 2009 and thought it was about time that I start my own blog since I love reading so many other blogs. I hope this blog will serve as a learning tool for you and provide you with inspiration to create using Stampin’ Up! products as well as get to know me a little better! I am hoping to be posting at least a couple times a week so check back often for new posts and upcoming class updates as I will no longer be sending out emails regarding classes! If you still want to receive emails I think you can become a follower to the blog and you should receive an email when a new posting is added. Although I LOVE sharing my cards and creations I also LOVE seeing what all of you create so please send me photos of all your wonderful creations using Stampin’ Up! products. I will post some of your creations here as well! The more inspiration the better! I think that is all for today regarding the housekeeping details of the blog! Now for the fun stuff….the creations!
